“MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. — It’s fairly quiet at Mammoth Mountain RV Park right now, but the day after Christmas, RVers will start pouring into the 125-site park, which also features two rental cabins.
“A lot of people come in the day after Christmas and stay through New Year’s,” said Jeremy Bobzein, a reservations specialist for Mammoth Mountain RV Park, adding that the resort should be close to full by New Year’s Eve.
During the winter months, Mammoth Mountain RV Park features plowed RV sites with electrical hookups as well as a water filling station and dump station. Other amenities include restrooms with hot showers and an indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi.
Bobzein said many people don’t realize that Mammoth Mountain RV Park is open during the winter, but the park has been spreading the word to its summer visitors with the hope of building its winter business.
“There are actually several campgrounds throughout the Sierra that are open in winter,” said Debbie Sipe, executive director of the California Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds, which hosts the Camp-California.com travel planning website. “They stay open not only to accommodate downhill and cross-country ski enthusiasts, but people who enjoy snowboarding, snowmobiling, snow tubing and other winter activities.” To read the entire article click here.
